Visitor segmentation is a way of putting your website visitors into groups that have something in common - for example location, device used to access the site, hour of the day, and other behaviors. Segmentation splits your website visitors into sub-groups with common needs or preferences who are likely to react or purchase in the same way. You can create segments by defining conditions that allows VWO to determine which segment a visitor qualifies for and enable the appropriate campaign or variation.
Follow these steps to create a segment for targeting campaigns to specific visitor groups:
- Select segment condition to define who can qualify for the campaign. For example, if you want to create a segment for visitor groups based on the mobile device, select the Mobile Device option.
- Depending on the segment condition you select, set relevant the condition match type. For example, if you want to create a segment for people who use iPhone and iPad to access your website, select the condition match type to define the device to include.
- Select the appropriate device option. You can define multiple conditions for a segment using the OR or NOT function. For our example select the iPhone and iPad options as displayed in following image:
